We ease you into Sunday with our opening Adventure Session. This is a shorter session with no guest speakers – just 6 fantastic short films. We call this a family-friendly session but it is definitely not just for kids. The films don’t have any dark storylines or excessive swearing so are generally suitable for younger viewers. There’s no younger age limit but we’d give it a PG rating. Read on for full details.
The Films:
Tom Seipp (8 mins)
Tom is 11 and loves riding bikes with his dad, no matter what the terrain or the weather. Having already twice completed the Strathpuffer 24 hour race, he has big plans for the future … he just needs to drag his dad along!
Spey in a Day (9 mins)
Two friends attempt to paddle the length of the river Spey, Scotland’s fastest flowing river, in under 24 hours with the aim of recording the fastest known canoe descent of the river.
Young Guns (27 mins)
Meet the new faces of climbing: 15-year-old Ashima Shiraishi and 16-year-old Kai Lightner are the leaders of the next generation, already taking the sport to the next level. A trip to Norway puts their skills to the test, and Ashima attempts to make history on a V15 boulder in Japan.
Reflections of an Underwater Cameraman (5 mins)
There aren’t many of us swimming about and diving in the North Atlantic all year around. After ten years in the seas around Ireland, the cameraman becomes the focus of his reflective journey.
A Line in the Snow (20 mins)
On the one of the wildest coastlines on East Greenland, a group of four skiers plan to climb and ski new routes in these spectacular mountains. Setting out from a small Inuit village, they hope a new piece of mapping technology can help them commit to ski down faces they haven’t seen.
Escape (6 mins)
Lee Craigie cycles the Caledonia Way, reflecting on how her bike has influenced many journeys in her life.
